Day in Review

On March 16, 2017, the Day of Training became the largest event ever hosted by the Northwest Arkansas Branch. Over 17 speakers, 20 sponsors, and 150+ attendees made the event our best yet. Thank you for attending!

Scholarships and Awards

During our event, we were able to provide two $1500 scholarships to rising UA Civil Engineering students. The Northwest Arkansas branch was proud to award scholarships to Allyson Richey and Nathan Parnell, both outstanding individuals who have been very active in the UA ASCE Student Chapter. Richey is currently serving as Conference Chair for the 2017 ASCE Mid-Continent Competition (MCC), which will bring over a dozen civil engineering departments from the region to Fayetteville to compete in various tasks. Parnell attended the 2017 ASCE Eastern Region Young Members Conference in Newark and is active on the Geowall team.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we were also able to provide a $1500 sponsorship to the UA Civil Engineering Department for the 2017 MCC. This was a special opportunity to help the outstanding efforts of our student branch and faculty to execute this very important conference. Sarah Connell accepted the award on behalf of the Student Chapter.

The 2017 Branch Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Dr. Kevin Hall, PE, Ph.D., PE of the University of Arkansas. Dr. Hall has been involved in ASCE for many years, from the Student Chapter to Chairman of national committees.
