What does the erosion of over 100,000 cubic yards of material look like?  This last May Clearwater broke all records; pool of record, record release, and first spill over the uncontrolled earthen spillway resulting in substantial erosion downstream of the concrete control structures.  A summary of the past dam safety modifications along with the past and future performance of the embankment and spillway will be discussed. Construction of Clearwater Dam was completed in 1948 and provides flood damage, recreation and conservation of fish and wildlife along the Black River in southeast Missouri.  More information can be found on the attached and at the following web link.
