Summer Student Activities

Objectives of AR Younger Members Group is to make a positive impact on the community through volunteer opportunities and to advance the science and profession of engineering. This summer our team was able to sponsor two STEM activities for students in our community.

At Terry Library, Younger Members helped students build a bridge made of pretzels and marshmallows. The students were able to test the integrity of their structures with small weights.

At the "Girls in STEM" program hosted by Museum of Discovery, Younger Members helped students learn about the waste water treatment process by treating swamp water by aeration, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, and filtration (through sand filters that they built).

Younger Members Katie Bryan and Chloe Morris help students construct bridges out of marshmallows and pretzel sticks at Terry Library.
